Pacific Fish The Chambered Nautilus dive in Palau was a success for the divers. The Nautilus were brought up from 400 feet and one given to every two divers. We set them free at 30 feet and by 4-50 feet they were swimming freely. They are beautiful to watch. Unfortunately when they were released to return to their habitat at 400 feet most were eaten by aggressive ocean trigger fish. It was the first and last nautilus dive for me. This Hawk Fish on Soft Coral off Karamoulan Island in the Solomon Islands was taken by chance. The fish is only an inch or so long and I did not see it. I was focusing on a close-up of the soft coral. Some times good photos are taken by chance. Film Velvia, f-stop 22, Lens: 105mm, Image Number: 172-5 Of all the photos I have taken of the widely found pink Anemone and orange Anemone Fish in the Pacific this one is my favorite. Film Velvia, f-stop 8, Lens 105mm, Image Number: 208-9 Purple Dart Fish are only found in, Papua New Guinea. In the rest of the Pacific they are a dull brown and tan. Try to get two together some time. It is a real challenge. Film Velvia, f-stop 16, Lens: 105, Image Number: 540-15

A Ghost Pipe fish is one of natures unusual creations. They float in the water seemingly without moving and yet stay in the same place. Finding them is a challenge. This one was at the Wreck of the Ann in the Solomon's.. Film Velvia, f-stop f22, Lens 105mm, Image Number:596-34 |
