Maldives Fish
Banded Butterfly Fish were everywhere. The challenge was to have a colorful background and two fish out of many. Film Velvia, f-stop 8, Lens 55mm, Image Number: 643-29 The Emperor Angel Fish Is one of the many spectacular angle fish in the Pacific. I have had a very hard time capturing fish pictures in the Pacific. In the Maldives, the coral was all dead and so the fish did not have many places to hide. Film Velvia, f-stop 11, Lens 70mm, Image Number: 670-29 Moorish Idols were every where. I setup this picture with a fast shutter speed (200) to have the fish on a black background. I liked the pose, but it took a lot of shots. Film Velvia, f-stop 16, Lens 35mm, Image Number: 648-19 Boy was this Napolean Wrasse big. I guess at least five feet long and he was hungry. The Dive master fed him (or her) boiled eggs. If he was not quick he was nipped! Film Velvia, f-stop 8, Lens 38mm, Image Number: 672-6 Scorpion Fish are wonderful to capture on film. They just will not move since they are convinced they are invisible. I find them when there is some contrast on their perch and when a fellow diver points them out. Film Velvia, f-stop 16, Lens 105mm, Image Number: 671-10 This Hawksbill turtle was eating a sponge underneath a plate coral.. Every once in a while it came up to look around but was more interested in eating than worried about the camera in its nose. Film Velvia, f-stop 11, Lens 105mm, Image Number 673-20 Lens 70mm, Film No. 638-4 I had never seen a Spotted Moray Eel but this one was under a ledge and easy to find. Film Velvia, f-stop 11, Lens 40mm, Image Number: 649-12 |
